Social Communication Group

Social Communication and Emotional Learning Group for Neurodivergent Children and Young Adults

At Listening Ears, we understand that every child has unique needs, especially when it comes to social and emotional growth. Our group offers a compassionate, tailored environment designed to support neurodivergent individuals as they navigate the complexities of emotions, relationships, and self-awareness.

We follow CASEL’s renowned SEL framework, focusing on five essential competencies to help children and young adults thrive:

  • Self-Awareness – Our sessions help children recognize and understand their emotions, fostering greater insight into how those emotions influence their behavior. This foundational skill builds confidence and self-acceptance.
  • Self-Management- We guide participants in developing the tools needed to regulate their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in different situations, promoting a sense of calm and control.
  • Social Awareness- Empathy and respect are core to our approach. Children will learn to appreciate diverse perspectives, understand the emotions of others, and build stronger, more inclusive connections.
  • Relationship Skills – Through interactive activities, students will practice effective communication, conflict resolution, and teamwork to foster healthy, supportive relationships with peers and adults alike.
  • Responsible Decision- Making – We encourage thoughtful decision-making in personal behavior and social interactions. Children will gain skills to make positive choices that align with their values and goals.
